WHAT WE DO
We aspire and advance female engineers to achieve their personal and professional goals.
UT SWE
At the core of UT SWE is our mission to build a community that empowers women engineering students. With our membership of students spanning all engineering disciplines, we hope that each member can find in SWE a community of friends, a professional network, and a wealth of resources to help them achieve their full potentials as engineers and leaders. The university experience should not be confined to the classroom. As our incredibly strong team shows, what makes SWE special is the amount of opportunities it provides for students to develop their skills and contribute to the organization, fostering a positive and inclusive environment. SWE provides collegiate members valuable access to a unique set of resources that sets the stage for a successful career and the opportunity to inspire future generations and have fun!
General Meetings
What are you doing Tuesdays from 7-8 PM? Just finished with classes for the day? Join the biweekly SWE family gathering to hang out with that one person you see in all your classes but never talked to, to meet with corporate partners in a setting much less intimidating than EXPO, or to meet new SWeople with our fun icebreakers. Learn from a host of experienced people from a variety of different fields and keep up to date with everything happening in SWE at the same time. We’ll even provide the food!
Professional Development
Our Professional Development events aim to give our members the opportunity to strengthen relationships with the Graduate SWE chapter and female professors on campus, while also providing exposure to non-conventional occupations outside of engineering. Specific events include Brown Bags, Professor Panels, and much more!
Society Conference
The Society of Women Engineers annual Society Conference is the largest conference for women in engineering and technology. These conferences are opportunities for UT SWE members to interact with collegiate and professional engineers from all around the world, in all stages of their careers. Attendees leave the three-day conference with an understanding of the mission of SWE along with new knowledge regarding professional and personal development by participating in hands-on workshops. Additionally, they engage with recruiters at the SWE Career Fair which boasts over 175 diverse exhibitors, including many companies who do not attend UT's Fall or Spring career fairs. Many UT SWE members have received internship and full-time offers from successful networking and interviewing.
